How We Started:

In 1994 a pregnancy-center advocate came to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church to speak about the need for a pregnancy center in Buena Vista . Two people responded to the call: Audrey Hinkle and Bruce Cogan . . . and the dream became reality.

During the first year of operation, the newly established Center had seven client visits. God blessed the faithfulness of the workers and in 1999, the Center relocated to an office in downtown Buena Vista and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Before long, the Center outgrew the space and God provided for the purchase of an 800 sq. ft. office in 2004. Client visits grew to more than 100 that year. When the BVPC added its
"Earn-While-You-Learn" program, client visits jumped to more than 500 in 2007.

A new program is offered in 2008: Limited Ultrasound. Once again the BVPC has outgrown its walls and sees the need to "expand its territory." The Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers are hoping to move the Center into a 1,200 sq. ft. space this summer.

The Buena Vista Pregnancy Center is supported largely by contributions from individuals and local churches. God calls His people to give and they respond!
