Abortion:
Before You Decide ...
We
are committed to help those who are thinking about having
an abortion and to consider
what is in their best interest. This means helping them
find solutions to the often distressing circumstances
of an unplanned pregnancy. Don't just think you have
no choice, that you just need to "take care of
the problem as quick as possible." Slow down and
think about what is best for you right now and for the
future.
WE
RECOMMEND you check out this list before you make a
permanent decision.
GET A BLOOD TEST OR LABORATORY QUALITY URINE
TEST:
You may not be pregnant after all. We provide a laboratory
quality urine test FREE OF CHARGE. Because of the conflict
of interest, do not confirm your pregnancy at an abortion
clinic.
GET A LIMITED ULTRASOUND:
We provide limited ultrasounds to determine viability
and the gestation age of the baby. It is important to
know both of these things before you make a decision.
DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO PERFORM AN ABORTION
BEFORE YOUR 8TH WEEK OF
PREGNANCY:
There is no "Guarantee of Success" before
the 8th week of pregnancy because the fetus is too small
to locate. The abortion can also be incomplete, leaving
behind parts of the fetus, which can cause severe infection.
This can lead to infertility, toxic poisoning, or even
death.
ASK FOR THE NAME OF THE DOCTOR PERFORMING THE
ABORTION: In
case of injury, you need to know the name of the person
to hold responsible. Protect your rights and ask!
MAKE SURE THE ABORTION CLINIC IS A LICENSED
MEDICAL CLINIC:
Abortion providers are not required by law to be licensed
clinics and are not required to provide the standard
medical care a woman deserves or expects. Don't be decieved
by the term "Licensed Private Practice." Make
sure they are a medical clinic.
KNOW THAT AN ABORTION IS A SURGERY AND HAS PARTICULAR
HEALTH AND PSYCOLOGICAL RISKS:
Ectopic Pregnancies (the development of a fertilized
egg outside the womb, for example, in a Fallopian Tube):
Studies show that the risk of an ectopic pregnancy is
twice as high for women who have had an abortion and
up to 4 times as high for women with 2 or more abortions.
Pelvice Inflammatory Disease: 30% of women suffer PID
following an induced abortion. This can lead to fever
and infertility.
Emotional/Psychological Trauma: 50% of post-abortive
women report experiencing emotional and psychological
disturbances such as depression, anger, nigthmares,
eating disorders, sexual problems, relational problems,
drug and alchohol abuse, preoccupation with babies and
thoughts of suicide.
IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND, GET
YOUR MONEY BACK, EVEN IF YOU ARE ON THE TABLE:
Abortion
providers know this is an extremely distressing decision
and often women change their minds at the last minute.
You have a right to change your mind, and a right to
have your money refunded. Don't be pressured into something
you don't want to do.
UNDERSTAND
YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS AFTER AN ABORTION:
You
may be asked to sign a statement saying the abortion
clinic or doctor will not be held liable for any damages
that may happen during the abortion procedure. This
document has very little legal authority. If you are
physically or emotionally injured, you always have the
right to seek legal help.
KNOW
WHAT ABORTION IS AND WHY IT'S SUCH A HARD DECISION TO
MAKE: You
should not have an abortion before 7 weeks. By this
time, the fetus is
well-developed. He or she has fingers and fingerprints,
the heart has been beating for over a month, there is
an entire nervous system, and he or she can feel pain.
You are carrying a seperate individual that is in your
body. You have a big decision to make. We are here to
help you make a decision that won't regret in the future.
If
you are considering an abortion only because of your
circumstances ... change your circumstances. If you're
hesitating about getting an abortion, that could mean
you have conflicting emotions. Don't ignore them. Take
time to ask yourself why. Don't abandon your conscience
and values; they are what make you a strong woman.
